Step 3 - Complete and Return Important
Materials
Step 1 - Choose Your Summer Session Now!
Complete your online
Pre-Orientation materials and indicate your Summer Orientation Session
Preference NOW. Orientation is required of all first-year students and offers
you the opportunity to meet other first-year students, work with faculty and
academic advisors on your fall semester course schedule, become familiar with
the residential living facilities, and much more. You will also have the option
to register your parent(s) or guardian(s) for the parent orientation if they
will be attending with you. Visit the
Parent Orientation page
to learn more.
Orientation sessions will fill quickly. We encourage you to complete the
Pre-Orientation materials and communicate your Summer Orientation session
preference within the next few weeks. Please note that the availability of
courses will be the same for each session. Attending a later session will not
place students at a disadvantage for enrollment. IMPORTANT: To ensure that
your housing preferences are honored based upon the date your Residence Hall
Placement Application was received, you must choose your Summer Orientation
session preference by May 1.
You can submit your Summer Orientation
session preferences and complete the Pre-Orientation materials through TruView.
For assistance accessing your TruView account, reference the
TruView Login
Instructions. If you have any
questions or problems while completing your Pre-Orientation materials, please
contact the Office of Admission at 660-785-4114 or email
admissions@truman.edu.

if you have not already done so. The application was enclosed in your acceptance

the housing application and fee will receive information regarding their
first-year residence hall room assignments during their Summer Orientation
session.
If you cancel your application in writing prior to May 1, $125 of the
application fee will be refunded. The remaining $25 is a non-refundable
processing fee.

This exam is for placement only and is not used to award college credit. For questions regarding mathematics placement, please visit the Pre-Orientation FAQ for Mathematics.
▪ Foreign Language Placement Exam — If you have studied Spanish, French, German or Latin, this exam is for placement only and is not used to award college credit. For questions regarding foreign language placement, please visit the Pre-Orientation FAQ for Foreign Language.

▪
Student
Organization Form
— Completing this form will facilitate contact with the Truman student
organizations you select. Submitting this form is encouraged but not required.
Step 3 – Complete and Return Important Materials
Please complete the following items prior to your arrival for the 2009 Fall Semester.
▪
Financial Aid
— In order to be considered for federal financial aid programs, submit the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1 as possible.
The FAFSA is available online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov,
and Truman’s Title IV code is 002495.
Many forms of financial aid are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Truman begins sending financial aid award letters in late March to students
who file the FAFSA. Included with the letter, recipients will be instructed to
accept their awards online through TruView. Instructions can also be found
on the
Financial Aid Office website. This website also provides places to:
report receipt of private scholarships
apply for a federal Stafford Loan
If you have questions about financial aid opportunities, please feel free to contact Truman's Financial Aid Office at 660-785-4130 or visit their website at http://financialaid.truman.edu.
▪ Scholarship Notification — If you qualify for an automatic academic scholarship, the award should be referenced in the letter that accompanied your acceptance packet of information. Competitive scholarship recipients are notified by mail, generally by late March. The application for admission serves as the competitive scholarship application – there is no separate application!
▪ Payment Arrangements — In order to hold residence hall space and a place in the freshman class, a $200 down payment on tuition is due by July 1. Fee payment information will be sent to new students beginning in April. This payment is fully refundable up until the start of fall semester classes if you should cancel your admission to Truman.
▪ Health & Immunization History — In order to better protect the health and well-being of our student community, you are asked to complete a Health History form and to provide documentation of immunization prior to your arrival for your first semester. The necessary forms are included in your Pre-Orientation packet. Please return the completed forms to Truman’s Student Health Clinic prior to July 1, 2009.
▪
Final Transcripts
— Official copies of your final transcripts from high school and any colleges
you have attended must be sent to the Admission Office prior to the start of
your first semester. You may use the printable
High School Transcript Request Form to conveniently notify your high school
that your final transcript must be sent to the Office of Admission at Truman.
Please ensure that your final high school transcript includes your Spring 2009
grades.
If you have earned credit through another college or university,
regulations require that you
inform Truman about all college coursework previously completed or currently in
progress. Your transcripts should be sent to Truman once all of your
grades have been posted. Please forward the
College/University Transcript Request Form to the institution granting
credit. This form should not be used to report credit earned through CLEP,
AP, or IB exams. Please contact the appropriate testing agency to have
official score reports sent to Truman’s Registrar; Truman State University's
CEEB code is 6483.
▪
Vehicle Registration — Information will be mailed to our new students
regarding vehicle registration for having a car on campus. It is
$50 for a parking decal
and the decal will be in the packet that you will receive at your
residence hall on Move-In Day in August.
